Guide: Disability inclusion in recruitment and beyond

A guide to attracting, recruiting and retaining disabled and neurodivergent talent.

About the guide

According to our latest research, 34% of neurodivergent workers have experienced difficulty in recruitment and interview processes at some point in their career. Reasons for this often include job descriptions and applications processes that discourage neurodivergent applicants from applying; and, selection processes that are bias towards 'typical' ways of thinking and doing.

Inclusive recruitment helps us to recruit in a way that recognises, understands and values differences in every part of the process. It helps us to attract neurodivergent talent who often bring original thinking, creativity, tenacity and more to the workplace.

This guide includes:

  • Advice that'll help you to be more inclusive across all stages of recruitment - from writing job descriptions and advertising job roles, to interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and beyond
  • Tips that'll help you to be more flexible to different needs, communicate more inclusively, and reduce bias
  • Insights that'll help you to nurture a diverse workforce, and create a lasting culture where employees feel comfortable and confident to bring their full selves to work
