New translation tools in Read&Write for Chrome and Edge

A preview of the Read&Write translation features

We’ve listened to your feedback and we're excited to announce the launch of two new translation features in Read&Write for Chrome and Edge. These features bring real-time translation support to those learning or working in a second language and offer meaningful ways to remove language barriers across digital spaces.

Whether you’re learning or working in a second language, or supporting multilingual users in your classroom or team, these can help make reading and writing easier and more accessible.

What’s new in Read&Write?

1. Translation while speaking or typing

Previously available in our Co:Writer tool, this feature is now built into Read&Write, offering familiar real-time translation support for users who’ve relied on it before.

What it does: As you speak or type in one language, Read&Write can translate your text into another language in real time, within the prediction panel or text box.

Why it matters in education: This feature helps students who are learning a new language or working in a less familiar one feel more confident and capable in class. It allows them to communicate in the language they’re most comfortable with, without interrupting their learning flow.

Why it matters at work: Employees in multilingual teams can express themselves more freely and accurately, removing friction from everyday communication and reducing reliance on external tools.

2. Page and paragraph translation

A long-requested addition, this feature brings similar translation functionality from our Snap&Read product into Read&Write, making it easier to work with longer texts.

What it does: This feature allows users to translate selected text, multiple paragraphs, or entire web pages and documents into their preferred language. It's available on demand, directly within the Read&Write toolbar.

Why it matters in education: When learners engage with complex texts, being able to read in their home language helps improve comprehension, build confidence, and support deeper participation in class.

Why it matters at work: For neurodivergent professionals or global teams, having the option to quickly translate large amounts of information into a familiar language improves clarity and supports more efficient communication.

Who benefits from these features?

  • Teachers and education leaders: These features offer accessible, in-the-moment language support that removes barriers for multilingual learners, especially in diverse classrooms.
  • Neurodivergent and multilingual students: English language learners, multilingual students and those who are neurodivergent can stay focused and engaged, with tools that adapt to their needs in real time.
  • Workplace teams: People leaders and others across the organization can better support their neurodiverse and multilingual workforce with built-in tools that reduce the need for additional software or manual translation.
  • Neurodivergent professionals: Translation features work seamlessly within the Read&Write toolbar, providing accessible, context-aware support without disrupting workflow.

Ready to use today

Both features are already live in the Read&Write toolbar for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge users. These updates also mark an exciting step in bringing together the best of our tools, from Co:Writer and Snap&Read, into one seamless Read&Write experience.
