Discover how Alief ISD is preparing all learners for success by integrating Read&Write into their educational ecosystem.

In this on demand session, Michelle Nielsen shares the district’s journey—highlighting the pivotal role of leadership, stakeholder engagement, and myth-busting in choosing the right tools to support reading and writing across student populations.

During this session, you'll learn how Alief ISD:

  • Rallied key stakeholders and gained buy-in across departments
  • Used the "Switch" framework (by Chip & Dan Heath) to guide change
  • Tackled common myths about Read&Write—like “my students can already read” or “this is just for special education”
  • Leveraged state funding (IMA) to support implementation
  • Selected Read&Write over free alternatives based on student outcomes and long-term success
  • Captured meaningful data to showcase the impact on student learning

Whether you're exploring inclusive tools for diverse learners or rethinking your district’s literacy strategy, this session offers actionable insights and real-world inspiration to help you shape a future ready learning environment.
