Solutions for Special Education
Help students in special education learn and express themselves like never before
Give students in special education equal access to the curriculum
For too long, students in special education have come up against many barriers to learning. These barriers can include not being able to access text, in the same way their peers do, as well as not being able to demonstrate their mastery of a topic in a traditional way. With Texthelp tools, students in special education can access and engage with lessons with confidence, alongside their peers.
Individual Education Plans
According to the Institute of Teacher Aide Courses, Individual Education Plans (or IEPs as they are more commonly known) are developed when students are identified as having particular needs that are not adequately addressed with additional support alone. An IEP is warranted when the learning needs of an individual student are vastly different to the rest of the class.
Texthelp tools, designed with the principles of Universal Design for Learning in mind, give educators and students a range of supports to compliment learning in the classroom and at home. Helping students to become more confident and independent learners.
Take the pain out of reading
Reading can often be a point of frustration and pain for our students in special education. Whether that’s reading aloud or reading for comprehension. With our tools, students with special educational needs can read with confidence. Whether that’s practising to read aloud comfortably, or having on-screen text read aloud to them to increase comprehension. Even inaccessible text in images can be transformed into more accessible content for all students.
Motivate students to get their thoughts down on paper
For special education students, it can be difficult to translate thoughts in their head into words on a page. Transform the writing experience for students who would traditionally have struggled. With tools like prediction, Talk and Type, and Voice notes students can start to express themselves like never before.
Read&Write gives special education students a range of tools to help them get their thoughts down. Useful features help students to write more independently and with greater confidence.
Deepen understanding and increase engagement in maths
From learners with Dyslexia to EAL students, we all learn and understand maths in different ways - just like with reading and writing. Equatio allows students to grasp new concepts in ways that they can easily understand. It also allows students to respond to maths problems and worksheets using various tools.
Equatio’s accessibility features help your students to be independent in every subject. It improves their learning experiences by giving them choice in how they learn maths. This includes having maths read aloud, using “maths to speech” and taking maths beyond pen and paper to visualise concepts digitally.
What our customers say
"Texthelp creates amazing tools that are great for schools and education, especially with students in special education classes or who have specific needs to assist their learning. Read&Write is great for our Chromebook 1:1 in the district, providing tools like text-to-speech, highlighting, and simplifying the task of reading."
"Equatio is a valuable tool for the Education sphere. We make documents, eText, and tests accessible for students with disabilities. The equation is beneficial in working on STEM classes, as it can capture equations and insert them into documents in an accessible format."
