Highly realistic AI voices have landed in Read&Write

Highly realistic voices have arrived in Read&Write

Advanced AI voices in text-to-speech can help with focus, comprehension, and overall enjoyment of content. Now, with the arrival of our most advanced AI-powered voices, Read&Write for Google Chrome takes text-to-speech to the next level. This update offers students and employees a more engaging and personalized experience.

More natural voices have been a top request for our customers, and we’re excited to deliver exactly that. Powered by Elevenlabs, Read&Write’s new AI voices sound more natural and engaging than ever.

Also, a new voice search and preview function means users can quickly find the right voice. Everyone, from students navigating challenging text to employees writing complex reports, can quickly choose the voice that best fits their needs.

Please note this update requires a new permission for the Screenshot Reader extension. If users have installed Screenshot Reader themselves from the Chrome Store, they'll be prompted to grant the new permission before the feature can be used. If Screenshot Reader has been pushed out by an admin, users will not need to take any action.

A valuable learning tool

Whether listening to text in a second language or completing a tough assignment, high-quality AI voices make content more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

These new voices in Read&Write offer several benefits for students:

  • Advanced voices help students connect with the material. This boosts their understanding and focus.
  • More natural voices are easier to follow, supporting memory retention and focus. For instance, a student with ADHD might rely on these voices to stay engaged with an assignment. Helping them concentrate and absorb information effectively.
  • Improved AI voices make subtle details clearer. Consider a multilingual student learning new vocabulary. These voices enhance pronunciation and comprehension, boosting confidence in their language skills.
  • With a wide range of voice options, this update means an overall better text-to-speech experience. For neurodivergent students, customizable voices can help process material more comfortably. And multilingual students can find voices that suit their language and learning preferences.

Boosting productivity in the workplace

Text-to-speech is also a crucial part of creating inclusive workplaces. For multilingual and neurodivergent employees, highly advanced voices can make processing information more engaging and approachable. Whether listening to emails, reports, or presentations, having access to high-quality AI voices helps reduce fatigue and improve focus.

We expect the new AI voices to benefit the workplace in a number of ways:

  • Highly personalized voices can help employees with dyslexia or processing challenges. For example, an employee with dyslexia might use text-to-speech to review a lengthy project report. The clear and natural-sounding voices ensure they can follow along without distraction.
  • Advanced AI voices reduce the strain of prolonged screen time. Consider an employee working through detailed legal documents or complex financial reports. Text-to-speech offers a smoother listening experience and helps them process information without screen fatigue.
  • These voices are particularly beneficial for multilingual employees. For instance, a team member preparing a presentation in their second language can use the voices to fine-tune their pronunciation.
